Health and Safety

Our Our Outdoor learning aims to support children to develop responsibility for themselves and others. It will encourage early risk management strategies that will ensure that young children start to consider the impact of their actions on themselves and on others.

Ellie has an up-to-date certificate in ITC Outdoor First Aid and is in charge of first aid arrangement.  A first aid kit is taken on all sessions.

All our Health and safety policies and procedures can be found in full in our handbook below.

Safeguarding

All sessions are led by a trained Forest/Coastal School Leader who has also been trained in safeguarding.  All our safeguardging policies are availble to view in the handbook.

Risk assessments afre conducted for each zsession, site and activity and are available on request.  All staff and volunteers will have had these prior to the session starting.

All staff and volunteers have current DBS checks and first aid training.

The boundaries of the sites will be made clear to the children and they will be expected to stay within them. In the unlikely case of a child going missing, all other children will be brought back to base camp, while the second leader goes to look for the missing child. Parents will be informed.

Equality and Inclusion

During sessions all participants are treated equally. We aim to provide a secure environment in which children can flourish and in which all contributions are valued.

We run a range of different groups for different ages and abilities, from parent and baby groups up to an adult wellness group.

Sessions and the timetable are evolving all the time, so if you feel something is missing please get in touch!

Covid Policy:

  • As it is outdoors, masks are not compulsory.
  • Sanitiser and hand washing facilities will be available throughout the session.
  • Adults will be expected to maintain social distancing, although children will not.
  • And of course, please STAY at HOME if anyone in your household is showing symptoms of Covid 19.
