We have a couple of blue tits regularly visiting our feeders. Such sweet little things. Before we converted the tin hut into what will be later this year the holiday let we had a pair that nested in the roof there every year. This year we have made a bird box or two to go around the place and we intend putting one up on the same side as their hole to get in was to allow them to continue nesting in roughly the same location!

They are easily chased off the feeders by the Great Tit or the Robin, but never very far and nip in frequently to the peanuts. Always just inside the dog rose bush not far from the feeder.
Their pretty blue and yellow feathers make them an easy to spot bird in amongst the others at the feeders and they are pretty widely spread so you are almost guaranteed to be able to spot them if you put out feeders!
What they sound like…
Here is a link to a fabulous website with all the UK bird calls, but this link is specifically through to the blue tit page!
What they eat…
As I have said above they LOVE the peanut feeder, but they mainly eat insects which means they a fabulous aid at quelling some of those annoying garden pests! They will also eat fat and scraps.
Remember there is a birdwatching pack in the shop, not just for birdwatching week!!
And I posted a free activity over on the blog too and that post contains links to lots of resources from the RSPB.
