So, many people ask us why we often let chunks of grass grow around here!! Well apart from the sheer scale of the mowing here…. here are two pictorial reasons!
We are starting to see small areas of real biodiversity appearing in between the mown bit!!
One day we will conduct a proper survey of the species we have in different spots!! Maybe even using quadrat methods that I can remember doing in primary school!!! I used to love the time we spent on Surrey Heath learning about nature out in nature!! Soil and plant surveys and feeding the tiny sundews flies etc! I must see if I have the whole Heathland project we did still squirrelled away!
