We have been on a number of collecting walks recently! Collecting acorns, conkers, fruits, nuts, hips, haws…. sticks, twigs….
We have spotted things….
Tracked things….
And when we get home, sometimes we paint or draw things
And sometimes we explore with play dough!!
We often make our own play dough
Using this recipe:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour.
- 3/4 cup salt.
- 4 teaspoons cream of tartar.
- 2 cups lukewarm water.
- 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (coconut oil works too and smells amazing!!)
- Food coloring, optional.
We have added mud instead of colouring, sand on times to add texture and then we use all sorts of simple tools and lots of nature finds making play dough acorns, rolling out dough and texturing it with our finds…
So many ways to explore!!
And Twinkl have LOADS of play dough mats to explore too!! Laminated and added to our collection we have make spikes for a gruffalo, logpiles for snakes, stickman out of dough etc etc
